Recovery Journey

Week 1: Establishing Care

Days 1-3: No touching, washing, or exercise. Wear loose clothes. Spray saline as directed.

Days 4-7: First gentle hair wash (cup method). Scabs begin to form - DO NOT PICK.

Week 2: Healing Progression

Scabs loosen and fall off naturally. Return to work is common. Gentle daily washing helps soften scabs.

Activity: Light cardio allowed. No heavy lifting or swimming yet.

Weeks 3-4: Stabilization

Grafts are secure. Resume normal washing and gentle styling. Most exercise and gym activities can resume safely.

⚠️ Months 2-3: The Shedding Phase

Don't Panic! 80-90% of transplanted hair will fall out. This is a completely normal part of the cycle (Shock Loss). The follicles remain healthy beneath the skin.

Months 3-6: New Growth

Fine, thin hairs begin to sprout. Growth may be patchy initially. Treat gently and protect from strong sun.

Months 6-12: Maturation

Hair thickens, darkens, and density increases significantly. Final texture achieved around 12-18 months. Styling becomes versatile.

Recovery FAQs

Initial growth typically begins between months 3 and 4. You will see significant density improvements by month 6, and final, mature results are visible between 12 to 18 months. You can view typical timelines in our Result Gallery.
Yes, this is known as "shock loss" and is a completely expected phase. The transplanted hairs shed 2 to 8 weeks post-surgery (especially common after FUE transplants), but the follicle roots remain intact beneath the skin. You can read more about hair growth cycles on our official Blog.
Light cardio can usually be resumed after 2 weeks following your hair transplant. However, heavy lifting, contact sports, or activities causing excessive sweating should be avoided for 3 to 4 weeks to prevent graft displacement or infection.
You can wear a loose-fitting, adjustable cap after the first few days, ensuring it does not touch or rub against the newly implanted grafts. Avoid tight helmets or beanies for at least 3 weeks.
We provide continuous support. You can check our comprehensive Hair Transplant FAQs page for immediate answers, or book a quick follow-up appointment to speak with our medical team.
